Gallery Hours: Wednesday through Saturday 1- 6:30 PM

BAD CRAZY WONDERFUL was inspired in part by an attempt to preserve Sol LeWitt’s WD 371, redrawn in August 2014 and still remains.  Traditionally, when a show ends gallery walls are repainted and prepared clean for the next show. However, Ms. Miyamoto enjoyed sharing this work with the community so much there was a reluctance to eliminate it all at once.

Initially, the thought was to protect the work by building a cantilevered wall system that could be removed to reveal it as desired, however engineering became cost prohibitive. Another idea was to cover the work with a curtain cum quilt but this too became impossible due to the gallery schedule.  Because of this, Wall Drawing 371 was integrated into Kimono Kimono Show and now has inspired Bad Crazy Wonderful. Building upon the LeWitt drawings these new works by Kazuko Miyamoto and David, K&D, and friends, were created in this new collaboration between living artists inspired by this LeWitt work before being ultimately painted over completely sometime soon, probably.

The holiday show is a regular occurrence at onetwentyeight. Each year around this time Ms. Miyamoto invites artists who have become a part of the onetwentyeight community. This year the show includes 7,053 artists and their work. We hope there is enough room in the gallery for you to fit in and see it.
